Self-regulating Cables

Looking to protect your fluids circulating in exchangers, pumps, tanks and pipes against freezing in these colder winter months? Cynebar’s ample range of self-regulating cables present a safe and efficient option to your trace heating applications to prevent against malfunctioning and flow interference. Our range of self-regulating cable stocked in Brisbane is 30 W/m at + 10°C with a power supply of 230V/240V.

The self-regulation properties of the cables are achieved through their carefully engineered construction. Between the conductors, a carbon enriched polymer allows for dynamic changing of resistance. The resistivity of the material changes with temperature; dilating in size and reducing the space available for the current to pass through. It is this ability that allows for the power dissipated by the cable to decrease as the temperature rises, hence being known as self-regulating. With this self-regulating capability, it ensures that there will always be a balance between the power being dissipated and the losses due to the outside environment.

With the ability to be cut to length at site and easy to use application, our self-regulating cables are a quick solution to freezing problems. Simply apply to your piping in either a straight or spiral tracing, held in place by aluminium adhesive. Add a thermostat control device to ensure the cable enjoys a long serviceable life.
