Airflow Requirements

Adequate airflow is critical to safe duct heater operation and maximum service life.

Design considerations typically include:

- Minimum airflow velocity requirements

- Air temperature rise calculations

- Pressure drop considerations

- Uniform airflow distribution across the heating elements

To protect the heater and air handling system, duct heaters can be supplied with:

- Differential pressure airflow switches

- Fan interlocks

- Air proving switches

- Building Management System (BMS) integration

These safety systems automatically isolate power if airflow falls below acceptable operating limits.
